Frequently asked questions-
Q1: How do I clean the lint filter?
A: Clean the lint filter after every load to maintain airflow and prevent fire hazards. Every few months, wash it in warm, soapy water to remove residue from fabric softeners, rinse well, and let it dry completely.
Q2: How often should I clean the dryer vent?
A: Clean the dryer exhaust vent at least once a year using a vent brush or vacuum hose. This prevents clogs, improves efficiency, and reduces drying time.
Q3: Why doesn’t my electric dryer come with a power cord?
A: Power cords are sold separately because homes have different outlet types (3-prong or 4-prong). Purchase and install the correct cord based on your home’s setup.
Q4: Can I reverse the dryer door opening?
A: Yes, the door is reversible. Follow the instructions in your owner’s manual to switch the hinge and latch for your preferred setup.
Q5: Why is my dryer taking too long to dry clothes?
A: The main cause is restricted airflow from a clogged lint filter or vent. Other causes include a faulty thermal fuse, heating element, or overloading the drum.
Q6: Why won’t my dryer start?
A: Check that the door is fully closed and latched. Ensure power is on and the breaker hasn’t tripped. A broken drive belt or faulty start switch may also prevent operation.
Q7: Why does my dryer run but not heat?
A: Common causes include a blown thermal fuse, faulty heating element, or malfunctioning thermostat. These parts may require testing and replacement.
Q8: Why is my dryer making squeaking or thumping noises?
A: This may be caused by small objects in the drum, a worn drive belt, or defective drum-support bearings.
