Pros
-
Cooling + heating in one unit: Useful for places with warm/hot seasons plus cooler nights; you get one device that handles both.
-
Smart control: Ability to use app / voice commands adds convenience. Useful to switch modes or turn it on/off remotely.
-
Good match for medium-sized rooms (~330 sq ft): More capacity than small units, so faster cooling and better handling of moderate heat loads.
-
Decent efficiency for its class: CEER ~ 11.3 isn’t top-tier but reasonable, especially with smart / heater combo units.
-
Lower noise at moderate operation: High mode is noticeable, but lower speeds are more tolerable.
-
Useful extra features: Timer, auto-restart (important in areas with power cuts), filter alerts, energy saver mode—these help both comfort and operating cost.
-
Modern refrigerant (R-32): More environmentally friendly than some older refrigerants.
Cons
-
Heating mode is supplemental: 3,850 BTU of heating is limited — fine for mild cold, but not enough if you need strong heating in very cold weather.
-
Power draw when heating is high: In heating mode it uses ~1,260 W, with ~11 A, which adds up in electricity usage.
-
Noise still noticeable on high: ~52 dB is okay but in quieter rooms or nights it might still be audible.
-
Only 2 fan / cooling speeds: Less flexibility; finer control (low-noise, very low power) is limited.
-
Fixed speed compressor (not inverter): Means less efficiency at part load; you’ll lose some efficiency when you don’t need full power.
-
May be over-capacity for some smaller rooms: If your room is much smaller than ~330 sq ft, this might be more than needed (waste energy / cost).
-
Upfront cost & complexity: Smart units + heating + remote etc. cost more; also installation must ensure window supports unit, proper sealing etc.
Conclusion
The LG LW8023HRSM is a strong option if you want versatile comfort year-round for a medium-sized room and you have stable 115 V power. Its smart / Wi-Fi plus heating make it more flexible than cooling-only units. If you frequently experience both hot days and somewhat cool periods, it gives good value.
