Austin Air’s 360-degree intake system draws air into all sides of the HealthMate Plus®, passing it through a unique 4-stage filter.
The filter has a true medical grade HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arresting) filter surrounded by a blend of potassium iodide-impregnated carbon that is mixed with mineral-based filtration. The potassium iodide additive helps to deliver greater filtration of chemicals and gases, including Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Certified HEPA material we use is rated to capture 99.97% of airborne particles down to .3 microns and 99% of airborne particles down to .1 microns. Consequently, this combination of filter media provides improved relief in highly contaminated air spaces for those who are severely sensitive to chemicals.

What is the difference between the HealthMate and the HealthMate Plus?
Both the Austin Air HealthMate and HealthMate Plus use a combination of activated carbon, mineral-based filtration, and medical grade HEPA in their filters. However, the HealthMate Plus uses an activated carbon that is impregnated with potassium iodide, which is designed for better adsorption of specific chemicals such as formaldehyde.
