Frequently asked questions-
Q1: Why is my refrigerator not cooling properly?
A: Cooling issues can happen for several reasons. Blocked vents from oversized or misplaced food items can restrict airflow. Incorrect temperature settings may also be the cause; the freezer should stay between 0–5°F (-18 to -15°C). Dirty condenser coils covered with dust or pet hair can reduce efficiency and should be cleaned regularly. Finally, leveling problems can prevent the doors from sealing properly, leading to warm spots.
Q2: Why is my ice maker not producing ice?
A: If the ice maker isn’t working, check that it’s turned on—the control arm should be down or the power switch on. A frozen fill tube can stop water from reaching the tray and may need to be thawed. If the freezer is warmer than 10°F (-12°C), ice production can stop. A clogged water filter can also restrict flow, so it should be replaced every six months.
Q3: Why is my water dispenser not working?
A: Low water pressure is a common issue—the valve needs at least 20 psi to function properly, so check your shutoff valve and water system. A clogged or improperly installed filter can also prevent dispensing and should be replaced on schedule. In some cases, the water line behind the refrigerator may freeze, blocking flow; unplugging the unit and thawing the line can solve the problem.
Q4: Why is my refrigerator leaking water?
A: Water leaks often come from a misaligned or clogged water filter, or a crack in the filter housing. Another possibility is a frozen or blocked defrost drain line, which causes water to back up and leak into the refrigerator or onto the floor.
