24" Wide 4-Burner Coil Cooktop

Made in the USA with easy-to-use coil elements and a classic finish

Summit Appliance offers a wide selection of American-made household cooktops built for long-lasting durability in space-challenged kitchens.

The cootkop is a 24" wide 220-240V electric cooktop designed to fit 22 5/8" wide x 18 5/8" deep cutouts. It features a porcelain surface in a retro finish for a classic look, with a recessed design that helps to contain spills. Side-located push-to-turn knobs offer easy and safe use, with an indicator lights to show when the cooktop is on.

Designed to meet the most current UL safety standards, this unit features one 8" 950W and three 6" 650W coil elements. These operate at lower wattage than standard electric cooktops, allowing for a slow but steady heating process that will not cycle off. Each element includes a removable chrome drip pan for easier cleanup. This is a 220V cooktop and requires professional installation. It is compatible with a standard 40 amp 3 or 4-wire range cord.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly do the coil elements heat up?

What material is the cooking surface made from?

It boasts a robust, scratch-resistant porcelain surface with a black finish. The surface is designed to be recessed to help contain any spills.

What is the best way to clean the cooktop?

To clean the porcelain surface, the manufacturer suggests using a mild detergent along with a soft cloth. Each coil element is equipped with a removable chrome drip pan to facilitate easier cleaning.

Is there a hot surface indicator light?

No, this model does not include a dedicated hot surface indicator light.

What does the warranty cover?

The Pros and Cons of Getting Summit Coil Cooktop

The Pros

  • Durability:
Coil cooktops are sturdy and can withstand heavy cookware, such as cast iron, without damage.
  • Affordable:
They cost less upfront, and replacement coils are inexpensive and simple to install.
  • Responsive Heating:
Coils heat up and cool down faster than smoothtops, giving you more immediate temperature control.
  • Versatile with Cookware:
Suitable for nearly all types of pots and pans, including glass and cast iron.
  • Easy DIY Fixes:
If a coil burns out, it can be quickly swapped out with a new one, often available at hardware stores.

The Cons

  • Harder to Clean:
Spills and crumbs can collect under coils and drip pans, requiring more effort to keep clean.
  • Inconsistent Heating:
Hot spots may occur, leading to uneven cooking compared to smooth-top surfaces.
  • Less Efficient:
They release more heat into the room, reducing energy efficiency and potentially raising energy costs.
  • Outdated Look:
Their practical, utilitarian design doesn’t match the sleek style of modern kitchens.
  • Slow to Cool:
The coils stay hot for a while after being turned off, posing a burn risk.
  • Power Dependent:
As with all electric stoves, they won’t function during a power outage.

Summit's Coil cooktops offer durability, affordability, and wide cookware compatibility, with the added benefit of easy DIY repairs. However, they can be harder to clean, less energy-efficient, and provide uneven heating, while their dated appearance and slow cooling may not suit modern kitchens.
