Vent-A-Hood® Power Lung Technology

Vent-A-Hood®’s Power Lung products are engineered as efficient and quiet ventilators incorporating superior performance that fits the needs of the most common cooking products in the marketplace.

The exclusive Vent-A-Hood® Power Lung Blower and Centrifugal Filter chamber are built together to work as one in a single housing. Engineered to provide superior performance, the Power Lung eliminates grease that baffle filters and mesh screens do not.

Vent-A-Hood®’s Power Lung Delivers What Matters Most in Ventilation

• CAPTURES GREASE:
Vent-A-Hood® range hoods featuring the exclusive Power Lung blower with the Centrifugal Filter chamber actively remove grease from the air. The grease is captured and held in a collecting tray that can be remove and cleaned. Grease is the enemy, and the Power Lung wins the battle.
• CONTROLS SMOKE:
Vent-A-Hood®’s Active Canopy design ensures more interior surface is utilized to hold hot air and smoke, preventing it from exiting the hood canopy and into the room.
• EFFICIENT:
Engineered with a canopy, incorporating a capture area for vapor holding capacity, makes the Power Lung much more effective and energy-efficient requiring lower CFM (cubic foot per minute) of air removal. Much like European products, the patented Power Lung design combines energy efficiency with superior product performance. Products available include 6” tall insert liners for wood enclosures, under-cabinet models including the stylish emerald series design, and traditional professional designs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Vent-A-Hood?

A: Vent-A-Hood is renowned for producing premium-quality, durable, and exceptionally quiet kitchen range hoods. Known for its patented Magic Lung® (or Power Lung) blower system, the brand delivers powerful ventilation that effectively captures grease and smoke. With a long-standing reputation for craftsmanship and performance, Vent-A-Hood is recognized as one of the top names in kitchen ventilation.

Q: What do customers say about Vent-A-Hood?

A: Customers consistently praise Vent-A-Hood for its outstanding quality, quiet operation, and superior efficiency. Built entirely in Richardson, Texas, the brand has been a pioneer in range hood design for nearly 90 years. Its proprietary Magic Lung blower captures up to 99.9% of grease—far exceeding the roughly 60% efficiency of baffle filters—all while operating at about one-third the noise level of competing models.

Q: What is the recommended mounting height?

A: For optimal performance, the hood should be installed 21 to 24 inches above the cooking surface. Mounting it higher may reduce its effectiveness.

Q: What type of lighting does it have?

A: The PRH6K30 model includes energy-efficient LED GU10 lights for bright, long-lasting illumination.

Q: What does “Equivalent CFM” mean?

A: Because the Magic Lung system is so efficient, its airflow performance is comparable to higher CFM ratings found in hoods using traditional mesh or baffle filters. The equivalent CFM for this model is 375.

Q: How loud is the hood?

A: At high speed, the unit operates at 7.4 sones, which is considered quiet for a range hood of its power level.
